Derek is an experienced lawyer with a passion for criminal litigation. Derek is a member of Black Chambers in Sydney, but resides near Newcastle, and he runs a statewide practice as both Defence Counsel and as a non-Salaried Crown Prosecutor. Derek was previously a Solicitor Advocate at Legal Aid NSW, an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law, and he gained international legal experience while living in Canada where he worked for the Ontario Ombudsman in Toronto. Derek was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 and the NSW Bar in 2022. Derek is a keen contributor of continuing professional development papers and conference presentations.
